Story
Hi!
With a mad best mate of mine we have decided on the 22nd October to start cycling from "Ness Point" (in Lowestoft) to "Lands End" (in Cornwall) covering 500 miles of Great British roads and potholes in five days!
When we decide to do these crazy things one of us chooses a well known charity close to our hearts and the other chooses a local cause.
Lee is raising money for Prostate Cancer :-

While I am raising money to benefit our "local cause."
The soon to be refurbished Heritage Hut.......specifically for the Audio Visual Equipment which will cost up to £5,500.
The Heritage Hut, which is owned by the Walberswick Parish Council, stands on the Village Green. It was originally built as a Congregational Church in the 1880's. It has since been used at various times for the Village School, a Working Man's Club, a Youth Club, the St John's Ambulance, and as a SC&H's Heritage Centre. It has played a key role in the history of Walberswick.
The ownership of the Heritage Hut was passed from the Suffolk County Council to the Walberswick Parish Council in 2012.
In 2016 a scroll group working with WPC raised around £16,000 which has been transferred to WCLC specifically to fund works to improve the hut.
In 2019 a HH Management Comittee was formed composed of the four major users (WPC, WCLC, Walberswick Local History Group and the Walberswick Scroll Comittee) of the Heritage Hut to discuss the refurbishment and uses for the building.
After 3 years of painstaking planing in April 2019 the Parish Council leased the Heritage Hut to the WCLC who took over the refurbishment and its future management alongside HHMC.
As originally envisaged by the HHMC, The Heritage Hut will be a permanent home for the Walberswick Scroll and its presentations.
It will also become the headquarters of the WPC, the WCLC and the Walberswick Local History Group and it's archives and will be for general communal use by the Village.
"Phase 1" of his project is underway which will help restore the structure and infrastructure of the building setting it up to be a great community hub at the center of the action on the village green.
The impact of Covid 19 has meant other funding for "Phase 2" has been hard to find despite considerable fundraising and WCLC committing much funding to the project.
The "Audio Visual Equipment" will be used to support local art exhibitions and presentations by the WLHG and educational school trips.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and our community helping to bring it together for many more years to come!
