Story

15/05/2012 Update:

Just to keep everyone who has sponsored me for the Scottish Islands Race updated: We no longer have a boat! Jeff, the captain, has been quite ill in hospital, he is hopefully on the mend but won't be able to take part. As a result we are now doing the route on the weekend of the 22nd June to give us more daylight as we are going to bike between the islands and catch ferries! An extra 110 miles of riding on top of the fell running instead of the sailing. At least I wont be sea sick!

Just over three years ago, Mum lost her fight with cancer. She was 56 years young and loved and lived life. She battled with her illness, but ultimately it was too aggressive and finally took her on Good Friday 2009. She was not ready to leave.

Whilst she was fighting breast cancer, Mum climbed Goat Fell, on the Isle of Arran, from sea level to its' 874m high summit.

To raise money for St Teresa's Hospice in Mum's memory I am taking part in the Scottish Islands Peaks Race. scottishislandspeaksrace.com (in case you want to read about it).

The race takes place on the weekend of the 19th of May, in the Scottish Islands as the name suggests, and consists of 60 miles of fell running and 180 miles of sailing, non stop. The final run is up Goat Fell, should I need any motivation!

I am not a keen runner and having injured my knee on a training run, considered dropping out, hence the late sponsorship request! I also get seasick and can't sail.

I AM NOT DOING THIS FOR FUN!

We all need somewhere to turn for help when getting better is not an option.

St Teresa's help enabled Mum to pass away, with dignity, in her own home, surrounded by her family. Please dig deep to help this fabulous hospice.
