Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 19th September my wife' s waters broke at 27 weeks.
To say we were scared would be an under statement over the next 7 weeks Swindon Hospital became our home, with many appointments, scans and over night stays to ensure our little one was ok.
Our baby boy Charlie was born via c section 6 weeks early, the scariest part was not knowing what laid ahead for us not only for his health but simple things like would we be able to hold or touch him, what type of care would he need.
We had tried to prepare with the help and advice the consultants gave us but still being first time parents and knowing your baby will have to go to SCBU (Special Care) is something I would not wish on anyone.
Lucky for us Charlie was strong and a fighter and came out ready for this world, he still needed some help to get him their but we were very lucky. In SCBU we saw many families all at different stages and you see the hard work and care that is needed it really makes you appreciate the work that goes into to help premature babies.
But what a lot of things people don't see is the strain it takes on the families, Charlie was only in SCBU for 10 days but that was long enough leaving him each night was the hardest thing.
But you see mums and dads coming in each day to look after there newborns but leaving 1 or 2 children at home, you also see the psychological effects it has on parents who come day in day out to the hospital.
So please give generously to this amazing cause, the money you give will have a massive effect on the level of care these babies need so they can leave hospital and start their journey with there parents as a family.
