On July 11th I have decided to venture into the world of ultra marathons. For the uneducated (of which I was one a very short while ago) this involves running any distance over the standard marathon distance of 26.2 miles.  

I am not one to shy away from a challenge so have opted to run 100km (62 miles) along the iconic Ridgeway in the Race to the stones. 

The Ridgeway spans from the Chilterns in Oxfordshire to the North Wessex Downs and is the oldest path in Britain. The Race begins near Lewknor in Oxfordshire and finishes at a 3000 year old stone circle near Avebury in Wiltshire.  

As I have never run this far before I have absolutely no idea how long it will take me but am hoping it will be around the 12 hour mark give or take an hour or two either way!!

I have decided to put my sweat and hard work (and probably tears!)  to good use and raise some money for Andover and district Mencap, a charity which has helped my family for many years.
