Paris Marathon 2018 · 8 April 2018 ·

First Step’s vision is to provide the best possible environment to support each family and to enable their very young children with special needs and/or disabilities to maximise their individual potential.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I originally signed up to run the 2018 Paris marathon to finally lose the 'baby weight' that had been gathering around my midriff for the past few years and to try and get a bit fitter.  The training, which started on Boxing Day 2017 and has incorporated over 300 training miles, gives you time to reflect and think, so I've decided to turn this crazy vanity act into something much more worthwhile.  As such I am aiming to raise awareness and funds for First Step as they celebrate their 30th anniversary.  First Step began in October 1988 in response to a plea from some parents of young children with special needs and/or disabilities. They felt that they, and others in similar situations, could benefit from a group where they would be able to talk, share experiences, and provide support for each other in a non judgmental environment.  First Step provide that environment, but rely on donations to continue the great work that they do within the community check out their video at: http://www.firststep.org.uk/

Thank you for taking time to read this, and if you can, please spare a few coins for a very worthy cause.

It's worth noting that the race entry fee, travel and accommodation have been 100% self-funded so all donations will go directly to the charity.

Cheers

Jon
