Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have decided to walk from Land's End to John O'Groats, well actually the Scilly Isles to the northernmost point of Shetland, to raise awareness of two charities one of which is MIND (the other is Women in Need). This is as much a mental as a physical exercise for me and I hope is a way of using the positives of being bipolar to help myself as well as those effected by mental illness. I have significant symptoms of adult ADHD and yet can become obsessive about certain things. This has already come into its own during the preparation phase for the walk focusing me and helping to get more out of my day. Additionally, as many of you can testify to, physical activity helps to moderate mood swings and to release endorphins which can help with depression. What better way to be motivated to get up and get physically and mentally fitter than to raise money for these charities? MIND's record speaks for itself but it can only continue to do this great work if we help. This is an unpleasant reality of the modern world where society is being called upon more and more to fulfil many of the obligations that were initially thought to be that of government. As the saying goes, if you want it done right do it yourself!! Let's do what we can.
If you would like to join me on this adventure at any point please let me know or get out there and start walking/running/swimming etc.
