Earlier this year I lost my work partner, Mandy Brearley, to Leukaemia. I knew next to nothing about this form of cancer, but learnt very quickly that it is a full-on fight right from day 1.  

Mandy fought her illness with immense determination, courage, humour and humility and the care that she received was excellent throughout.

In Mandy's memory, I have taken on the challenge of running  the 2019 London Marathon to raise money for an important and very worthwhile charity, Leukaemia Care. 

With so many great causes to support throughout the year, I know it is difficult to support everything. I have struggled around this course once before (23 years ago) and vowed at the time "never, ever again".... , but here I am and I would be so grateful for any support that you are able to offer. Leukaemia Care is a national blood cancer support charity. We are dedicated to ensuring that anyone affected by blood cancer receives the right information, advice and support.

A diagnosis of a blood cancer can have a huge impact on someone emotionally, as well as physically. We understand that feelings of shock, anger and loneliness are all common at the time of diagnosis, during treatment and recovery and having someone to talk to, as well as the right information available can be a huge comfort.

We not only support patients, but carers and families too who can often carry a lot of the emotional strain when someone they love is diagnosed with a blood cancer.

We focus on the support that is needed now to help those affected by blood cancer cope during a diagnosis and beyond.
