Story
I have signed up to do 2 events for @JulianHouseUK.
The first event is the Big Bath Sleep-Out 2021: At Home between March 5th and 6th. This year, due to COVID, the event won’t be taking place in Alice Park. But instead it will be at home.
I want to experience what it is like to sleep outside in March. But I am lucky I only have to do it for one night – some people have to do it for many years.

The second event I will be taking part in is The Circuit of Bath Walk on Sunday 25th April (and there will be another one on Sunday 26th September). I am aiming to do 10 miles (the route is 20 miles long!). You can find more about the event and join in at:

Last year Julian House provided life changing support to over 1,400 vulnerable individuals who were experiencing or at risk of, homelessness across Bath, Bristol and the South West.
The on-going and long-term impact of the Coronavirus has had a devastating effect on the men, women and children Julian House support and how we support them. Most of our fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled and our charity shops and bike shops had to close for a period at the start of lockdown. Due to this, Julian House is expecting an income loss of at least £200,000. This is vital income, needed to fund their life saving services at this most challenging time.
I am doing these events because I want to help raise funds and awareness for Julian House and support the amazing work that they do. I also want to take action against homelessness and help vulnerable men and women at most risk during this pandemic. It’s a grim realisation that without the support of organisations such as Julian House, the life expectancy of a long-term homeless person is just 44 years!
I am also doing this because Julian House has helped me in my life through volunteering. Not long ago I was suffering with depression and panic attacks – I couldn’t travel or drive anywhere. I pushed
myself week by week to go on longer and longer bus journeys. Eventually after about 3 weeks, I made it to Bath City Centre. But I had to give myself a reason to go to Bath City Centre so I signed up to cook for the Residents in the hostel. I met some amazing people there both Residents and Staff and it massively boosted my self confidence that I did have skills and could be useful. So Julian House has been a
major part of my recovery and has led me to where I am today and the other projects I am now volunteering on. So this is my way of supporting them and saying thank you.
Thank you X
