Aspire Channel relay 2018 - Sea Dragons · 3 August 2018

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Myself, and five other brave souls, will be undertaking a Channel Relay Swim in the week commencing 3rd August 2018, weather and tides permitting. We will each take it in turn, swimming for one hour apiece, until such time as we reach France, hopefully in or around 15 hours.

Having attended boarding school in Dover for 7 years, and greatly enjoyed swimming and sailing in Dover Harbour, I have always harboured (pun intended) a desire to swim the channel, and 2018 is the year in which I can now fulfil that long held wish.

At the same time, it enables me to  raise monies for such a worthwhile charity as Aspire, which  is a national charity that provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life.  Aspire exists because there is currently no cure.
