Flora London Marathon 2007 · 22 April 2007 ·

We raise funds for research that will lead to the successful treatment and eventual elimination of kidney disease. The lives of many people are seriously affected by kidney disease. Kidney failure is an extremely debilitating illness. Research is the only answer to find a prevention or a cure.

Story

Dear All (29 May 2007)

Prior to the foot injury which forced me to withdraw, I received tremendous support from patients, friends and colleagues for my intended London Marathon effort on behalf of the South West Thames Kidney Fund.

Despite the generosity of my supporters in transferring their sponsorship of my effort to the brilliant effort made by the Kidney Fund Team (who completed in times ranging from 3hrs 35:26 to 6hrs 24:31), I was still left with a feeling of ‘unfinished business’.

The business is now finished! I completed the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday. The 26.2 miles was completed in four seasons. I experienced blazing sun, pelting rain, buffeting head winds direct from the sea, and large and painful hail - but I survived, my foot survived (wrapped securely to prevent rubbing), and I completed in 4 hrs 14 mins.

I now feel satisfied that I have played my part as a member of the South West Thames Kidney Fund Team - we have all run a marathon!

Your support of the South West Thames Kidney Fund has been amazing - thank you so much. Please keep it coming - it's never too late to sponsor!

With kindest regards

Jonathan
