Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon on October 2nd to raise money for Spanish Stray Dogs UK. SSDUK rescue and rehome stray dogs in the UK from the streets of Spain.
This will be my second London Marathon, but very much a big challenge for me!
Having always been a dog lover, but getting my first dog in 2020, it really opened my eyes up to how delicate and sensitive dogs are, which then led me to find out more and more about the quantity of dogs that are in need of a home.
It goes without saying that every dog deserves a loving caring home and no dog should have to live on the street.
The stray dogs of southern Spain that SSDUK help have only known extreme neglect, cruelty and abandonment. These dogs rarely have the legal protection their British cousins do and population control is far from a priority, leading to such high numbers that the chances of individuals finding help diminish daily. With such high numbers, conditions in the local dog pounds can be brutal and the dogs live a very restricted life.
Spanish Stray Dogs UK are a registered UK charity and they work closely with dog pounds provided by the local councils across Southern Spain. These pounds are not rescue centres, they are local pounds initially set up by the council to remove stray dogs from the streets, they are run primarily by volunteers working hard to find a home for every stray dog that they are made aware of. Spanish Stray Dogs UK rescue and rehome dogs across the United Kingdom, they rely solely on donations to keep this process running.
Any donation to this cause would be greatly appreciated and you will be helping towards giving a dog a better life, a life they deserve.
Donations go towards transports costs, vet bills, improving the pounds living conditions, flea and tick treatments, toys for the dogs, blankets for the winter months and many other items to improve the dog's lives.

Many thanks
