Along with BBC South colleagues and friends I'm taking part in the Hike4Mike on Sunday to raise as much money as possible to help Mike Everett - the son of our friend and colleague, Bob. 

32 year old Mike has been left paralysed from the waist down after an accident lifting weights in a gym earlier this year.  He broke his back and severed his spinal cord. This life-changing injury has had a massive impact on Mike, his wife Clarissa and their two year old son. 

Mike and his dad have swapped homes.  This has given Mike more space to more around in his wheelchair but he needs to make many more adaptations in order to live as full a life as possible.  Whilst he has a NHS wheelchair he would hugely benefit from a fully 'active' wheelchair which would open up many more possibilities.
