The Lifeboat Fund is an official charity of the Civil Service and also receives donations from Royal Mail and BT staff. The Fund supports the work of the RNLI by raising money to buy new lifeboats, equipment and training for crew. There are 12 Lifeboat Fund lifeboats in the RNLI fleet.

Story

Many of you will know I have been supporting The Lifeboat Fund for some time. Thanks to those who gave generously on previous occasions. The last time was when Claire and I cycled from Tower Lifeboat Station on the Thames to Wells-next-the-Sea Lifeboat Station in Norfolk. The campaign to get Wells a new Shannon Lifeboat has been successfully completed. The Fund's new campaign is Defeat Drowning Together. It combines support for Swim Safe and Lifeguards in the UK, and a brilliant project in Bangladesh. Learn more at http://www.thelifeboatfund.org.uk. Please donate if you can. And for colleagues in Parliament, please let me know if you're keen to help get regular Lifeboat Fund fundraising happening there, as it does across the rest of the public service.
