Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am not a runner.
I am challenging myself to go from someone who is pleased to finish a 5km ParkRun without stopping to someone who can run 21.0975km, or 13 and a bit miles, in a time that isn’t too disgraceful. I cannot stress enough that this is something which I will not find easy.
The reason for taking on this ridiculous challenge is to raise money for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice. I am highly biased in that I work for the Hospice but we rely on money donated by people like you, often to support people doing all kinds of challenges. The Hospice receives only about 35% of its funding from the NHS and relies on the people of the boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley to help us deliver the care we deliver.
I will share stories about the care that the Hospice provides with you via this page: it goes without thinking that there is pretty much not a day that goes by working in the Hospice without hearing a story of nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, councillors, chaplains, administrators, housekeepers (the list goes on and on) who do something to go above-and-beyond the call of duty to truly look after and care about people who need them the most.
I have set an ambitious target as this challenge is a big deal to me. I have no idea how I am going to plough on through over 13 miles but knowing that I’ve raised (at least!) £1,000 for the Hospice will make sure that I have no option but to carry on.
If this moves you to donate: thank you. I’ll you how much it hurt when it’s over and done with.
