Route 66 Conqueror Challenge (2,280 miles) · 23 June 2021

we are a small independent Charity based in South Wales, who try to help animals in need, mainly dogs, cats and rabbits that are unwanted or vulnerable then find them loving forever homes. We are very proud of our non-destruct policy

Story

It's less than two years since we adopted our beautiful ex-breeding rescue doggie Stella. She has lit up up our lives in a way which is as special as her. She's such an absolutely amazing little dog who is just so happy to be living her very best life and it's as if she looks directly into our souls with an appreciation of every single moment with a family who love and care so much about her.

Before she was rescued she was neglected, abused and maltreated beyond belief and bred to the brink of death. Her life was empty and sad and she had never known love or kindness. She didn't even have a name.

Without charities like Friends of Animals Wales (FOAW), dogs like Stella would never get to live their best lives. We completed our first walking challenge a few months ago, this was also to raise urgently needed funds for FOAW during the first COVID lockdown and now it's time to set off on challenge number two. For this challenge, we have roped in both Gary and Sadie (my husband and daughter) so we can complete an even bigger challenge in less time!

We are aiming to walk or run the distance of a full marathon each day, between us (26.2 miles) in order to virtually cover the distance of the famous USA road; Route 66 (from Chicago to LA  which is 2280 miles in total). This will take approximately 97 days if we can stay on target and we aim to finish on or around 21 September 2021...This is a long awaited and very special day because this is the day that Lucy's Law comes into force in Wales. This law will mean that anyone wanting to get a new puppy or kitten in Wales needs to buy direct from a licensed breeder, or consider adopting instead.

We would like to raise as much as possible to enable this wonderful charity to do what it does best; to help the most vulnerable, abused and needy animals to have the chance to live their very best lives as they deserve.

Please help us to help them and sponsor our Jones Family challenge -our second Walk of Hope for FOAW .

Thank you in advance.

Best Wishes,

Julie, Stella, Gary and Sadie Jones .
