Jon's Windsor Easter Challenge 25K & Mercer SurreyHalf Marathon

Mercer SurreyHalf · 8 March 2020
One race down, one to go!
Having successfully completed the SurreyHalf Marathon around the streets of Woking (in a tutu) I am now setting my sights on the second part of the challenge, namely 25km (15.5 miles) around Windsor on 11 April. Wish me luck and keep donating!

Hello all!
As you will no doubt be aware (because, quite frankly I don't shut up about it) I started running in April 2019 because of a throwaway comment made when supporting good friends of mine who ran the Surrey Half Marathon last year.
Essentially when cheering everyone over the line I jokingly said to my friend's wife that we should do it next year, she said she would if I would and here I am, a year later, trying to put your money where my mouth is!
Having tried to avoid any type of strenuous exercise all my life I definitely found it a struggle at the beginning but with the wonderful support of Lisa and my friends I have embraced the change of pace (ha ha) and have become just a little bit obsessed!
I initially only agreed to do the Surrey Half Marathon in March this year but I've been swept up in it all and have also agreed to run in a 25km (15.5 mile!!) event in Windsor shortly after in April. This fundraising venture covers both events.
My friend Gennie had far more confidence than I did that I would be able to become a runner, and here I am, less than a year later, looking forward to running silly distances for fun!
I was introduced to LinkAble through running and have been impressed with the support they provide for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism in the Woking area and would like to raise money to help them carry on the great work they do.
So please dig deep and help me reach or hopefully surpass my target! When I've completed the events I promise to tell you all about them, or better still, donate even more and I promise to finally shut up!
