Thank you for taking the time to visit our page and read our story.
At the start of 2020, we received the unthinkable news that one of our closest friends, Jonny, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. From this point, in spite of this devastating news, Jonny was, and continues to be, adamant that this must be used to create some kind of good, some kind of benefit, some kind of positive impact to others.
This coming Sunday 21st June 2020, a group of Jonny’s close friends will each be playing 100 holes of golf throughout the day, in order to raise money for Jonny’s chosen charity - The Beatson Cancer Charity.
As an avid golf player and fan, we could think of no better way of taking inspiration from Jonny’s story and battle, than to pick up our clubs, and take on the challenge of playing 100 holes in 1 day. We’ll be playing at Ranfurly Castle Golf Club, in Bridge of Weir, a club which Jonny has been a member of for a number of years. To the non-golfers reading this, 100 holes might not sound like too much of a task. However with a 4.30am first tee time, and an expected completion time of around 15 hours, rest assured it will be far from a walk in the park.
The Beatson have offered tremendous support to Jonny and his family since his diagnosis, and have been fantastic in helping them all through this difficult journey. Of course, the jobs of those at The Beatson have been made that bit harder over the last few months in particular, but the support and comfort they have provided to Jonny and his family has not wavered. We could not be more proud to be playing to raise money for a charity that provides the care and support that they do to families across the country.
The last few months have been incredibly difficult for everyone, but particularly challenging for Jonny who has been unable to see family and friends, those who desperately want to give him love and support at this time. This golf challenge is our way of showing that love and support to our friend.
The battle that Jonny has fought, and continues to fight, is an inspiration to all of us. We really want to ensure that his wish to use his story to create something positive, is reflected in our ability to provide support to The Beatson.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story. Your support and generosity is massively appreciated, and we take great pride in knowing the positive impact that all of your donations will have.
