Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you who know me, I'm not built for speed or endurance, more stability and raw power. Despite this, I have decided to follow my sisters footsteps and do "something" for charity. Me and a few close friends (guilt tripped) are undertaking a 127 mile cycle on the longest canal in GB (built as a single waterway), the Leeds Liverpool canal. One crazy individual has decided to run the last 26 miles to incorporate a marathon too. This is all going to take place on the 2nd and 3rd of September and hopefully finishing in Leeds by 17:00ish for a few pints at the nearest pub/bar possible.

The team involved (confirmed) are:

  1. Rob Newman
  2. Mark Walters
  3. Andy Hume
  4. Simon Gould
  5. Chris Rabban
  6. Matt "DJ Suggy" Sugden
  7. Arran Laughton
  8. Chris Platt - Running!
  9. Me.

You may or may not be aware, the Grice family were hit with the gutting news that mother Grice (Anne) had breast cancer. She was diagnosed over the festive period in 2016 and since then has undergone non stop tests, treatments and countless visits to one of the many hospitals in the region. She has completed both her chemo and operation and is now in recovery.

During these past 8 months, I don't recall Mum complaining once. She has been extremely strong to power her way through anything the treatment required. now she is on the road to recovery, she can look forward to Dad treating her to holidays, travelling GB with Baxter and Betty dog showing and being a fantastic Grandmother.

Despite the rough road, I see that we are lucky, mainly due to the early detection and treatment options the amazing NHS have offered us. We are hoping that Mum will make a full recovery and in years to come, this will be a small bump (or lump if you will) in the road. Other people however, will not be so lucky. They will need even more support and advances in treatment to ensure the worst does not happen to them and their wider family. Most of us, some of which are cycling with me, have been effected by cancer. It's about time that we found a cure for the disease and this is our way of helping towards that.

Please donate as much as you can, even if its £1, everything helps. Plus, I would really like to beat my sisters £3k mark which will be a tough target to hit.

All my love, Jonny.
