Eyup!
More than 47,500 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's 129 men every day. These men are people's grandfathers, dads, uncles, brothers and sons. It's a very treatable form of cancer but blokes being blokes, it often goes undiagnosed or worse, ignored. I'm running the Sheffield Half Marathon on Sunday 27th March in support of the great work this charity does for researching treatment and increasing awareness across the UK.
I wouldn't classify myself as a "serious" runner - I post the odd crap picture on social media after a relatively short run to convince myself I've burned off Saturday nights beer and take away. The Sheffield Half is one of the most challenging of its type in the UK....essentially it's 10k up one of the many steep hills in Sheffield and then 10k back down, so this is going to be a challenge given how woefully unprepared I am for running that kind of distance at that kind of gradient.
There's some awful stuff going off in the world that deserves donations of people's hard earned cash. Literally, any support you could lend will make my calf muscles feel that bit stronger and the "up" bit of the race that bit less painful. Even if it's chucking in the price of a pint, it'd mean a lot. It's a fantastic cause and will make a real difference to men across the UK.
Thanks very much.
