Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June 2010 I will be joining 40 others in cycling around the island of Zanzibar - we will be cycling up to 70km a day in the heat, which as those who know me well will testify is a little more than I am used to!
We are raising money for the Makunduchi project - this small charity has taken over the running of a community hospital in Zanzibar - an island that has a average life expectancy of only 47 years & where 1 in 6 children die below the age of 7 - read more on the website www.makunduchiproject.com
The money we raise is intended to fund our plan to commence maternity services at the hospital - this is desperately needed as there is currently no facility for caesarian section etc without a long journey to the capital - many women delvier unassisted at home and many women are dying in labour - we hope to make a dramatic difference to this community.
I have started to do some training - 21 mile round trip to work seems far enough especially with Bristol hills. In the meantime please feel free to donate generously - I believe this is a really important worthwhile cause. I will be paying the costs of the trip myself, so all money raised is going direct to the charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
