Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

 

Build It International, BGL Group's charity partner, is currently funding the building of a new school with three classrooms, new sanitation facilities, plus a house for teachers in Kabaka, Zambia.

 

In May 2014, myself and 19 colleagues from BGL Group are taking part in a 10 day trip to experience life in a rural Zambian village and witness the impact this project is having on the community. During our time there we will live in the community, interact with the children and deliver lessons to them.

 

The current school uses an empty health clinic and makeshift classrooms of sticks and grass. There are 258 pupils, 171 girls and 87 boys on the school register. To build a new school and teachers house will give over 3,000 Zambian children an opportunity to access education.

 

So as part of this challenge I'm pledging to complete the following events before May 2014, the first of which kicked off with a duathlon on 28th Sep '13...

Triathlon: 20/10/13 - complete!

12-hour football match: 17/11/13 - complete!

John O'Groats to Lands End bike ride: Apr-2014 - complete!

I'd also like to dedicate this challenge to my late brother, Pete, who was killed in Zambia nearly 20 years ago.
