My Son, Jay, and I are running the 3K Santa Dash in memory of my wonderful Dad and Jays fantastic grandad. 

The Mountbatten Hospice is an outstanding facility that cares for individuals diagnosed with terminal cancer as well as supporting their family members. They offer a privatised standard of service absolutely free. 

In my Dads final five days they looked after him, and us,  with upmost respect and the end of life care he received throughout this time was remarkable.

A little about Mountbatten: Mountbatten has been supporting Isle of Wight people through the toughest of times for 36 years. Without you, they will not be here for the next 36 years and beyond. Your money will make the difference between our community facing death alone and being supported through death, dying and bereavement with Mountbatten by their side. Every pound raised will help provide nurses to look after people at home, in familiar surroundings. It will provide oxygen on the hospice ward and special pressure relieving mattresses, giving a dying patient the greatest comfort possible. It will enable those with long term life-limiting illnesses to benefit from music and art therapy, helping them to carry on living, whilst dying. And it will give a family bereavement counselling (including children's creative type therapies) to help them come to terms with their loss.
