Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Lou was always the life and sole of the party she brought great joy and fun and enhanced the lives of everyone she met. A beautiful lady in more ways than one. A wonderful sister, mother, daughter and friend.

Myself, and two of Lous best friends (Caroline Kent and Jo Wright) are walking part of the Great Wall of China to raise money for this very worth while cause.

Details of the trip

We leave Saturday 26 April 2014 and return on 4 May 2014 we will be trekking for 6 days, we don’t know the amount of miles we’ll be trekking each day as the trek is very undulating the majority up and down steps and hills. (we’re beginning to wonder what we’ve let ourselves in for!!)

Day 1 / 2 fly overnight, arrive in Beijing and acclimatise (hopefully we wont be too jet lagged).

Day 3     transfer to Huangyaguan warm up trek along the wall which begins at Taipingzhai approx.3 / 4 hours trekking

Day 4    transfer to Gubeikou trek along the wall to Jinshanling this covers 27 towers over old brick made steps! 6 / 7 hours trekking

Day 5    Trek from Jinshanlin to Simitai a remote section of the wall(6/7 hours trekking)

Day 6    Simitai to Mutianyu – we climb the 1,000 steps to the foot of  the wall the trek across 20 battlements to the “Heavenly Ladder” – a near vertical staircase that climbs to the top of the mountain

Day 7      Badaling and Juyongguan – First part of the day is spent  helping to repair a section of the Great Wall (Global have secured permission from the Chinese Government to help with the reconstruction) then continue trekking along the wall which is very steep in parts 3 / 4 hours trekking

Day 8     Free day in Beijing (I think we’ll need it!!)

Day 9     Fly home

Please help us to make something positive happen out of a very tragic situation.

Thank You Jo, Caroline and Jo XXXXX
