Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and for your kind donation.
I am running the Great North Run this year in memory of Stephen Thompson and the foundation that was set up in his memory. Stephen passed away suddenly and unexpectedly as a result of a very rare form of heart disease, Giant Cell Myocarditis. He was a very fit and healthy 34 year old and had no prior symptoms.
At present there is only a single clinic running a research programmes into this heart disease. The foundation is committed to raising sufficient funds to aid a research programme being formally launched in the UK.
Recently, a research team in London that the foundation has supported to date have been given an Award of Excellence for their progress into Myocarditis. As a result, extra funding has been agreed to continue the excellent progress made which supplemented by the monies donated by the foundation
Any monies you are able to donate will be extremely valuable and will go directly to funding significant research into this largely unknown disease.
