Jordan's Kilimanjaro Trek

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am Jordan. I'm 25 years old. I'm from West Yorkshire, England. On January 8th, 2018 my father, Paul Harkin, died by suicide. In 2022 one of my closest friends, Ben Ramsbottom, also lost his father, Alan Ramsbottom. Alan died of cancer.
Losing our fathers was extremely tough, but it brought us closer together and strengthened our friendship, so much so that on a weekend trip to Dublin, the largest city in the world (it's always 'Dublin' in size), Ben and I decided to team up to raise money for charity in memory of our lost loved ones. But how best to raise money for charity? Should we run a marathon? Perhaps open a car wash? In the end, we decided to combine our shared passion for travel and physical fitness by committing to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Samaritans and Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Ben and I grew up together. I lived in the small coal mining town of South Kirkby and Ben lived in the neighboring town of South Elmsall. Growing up, we would go to school together, play football together and, when we were old enough, go out for drinks at the local pub together. I knew Ben's father and he knew mine. We love and still love our dads more than anything in the world and any donation, no matter what the amount, is hugely appreciated. Please consider splitting your donation across my Just Giving page and Ben's Just Giving page (link below), so that you donate to both charities. Also, please consider sharing our page on social media to help us on our mission. 1 simple Facebook share could be enough to save a life.

Samaritans is a UK-based charity that shares my vision that fewer people will die by suicide. They offer 24/7 support for anyone who is struggling to cope or needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. They are currently working on a five-year strategy for tackling suicide and a campaign for a suicide-safer internet. You can find out more at www.samaritans.org.
