In September, I’ll be running the Robin Hood Nottingham Half Marathon on Sunday 13th and the BUPA Great North Run in Newcastle on Sunday 20th in memory of my grandmother and to raise money for her Tribute Fund with the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). 

MND is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease causing the degeneration of the motor neurones that results in the weakness and wasting of muscles. This leads to increased loss of mobility in the limbs and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing that eventually leads to an undignified death.

My grandmother was diagnosed with MND in the middle of 2007 and the disease hit her so hard that she passed away in October 2007. The disease stripped my grandmother of her dignity and her ability to do anything for herself.

Currently there is no cure for MND. All the money raised will go to the MNDA to put towards research into finding a cure for this horrific disease and to help sufferers and their families.
