I'm cycling London to Paris for Myeloma UK

Myeloma UK London Paris Ride 2022 · 15 September 2022 to 19 September 2022 ·
I'm taking on the challenge of cycling 500 km over 4 consecutive days from London to Paris to help raise money and awareness for Myeloma UK. Multiple Myeloma is a relapsing-remitting blood cancer which is currently incurable. Please take a moment to read the message below:
Sadly, we all know or have heard of someone that has been affected by cancer. However not many have heard of Multiple Myeloma. Myeloma develops when DNA is damaged during the development of plasma cells (a type of white blood cell that usually helps us to fight infections). Myeloma causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells. Rather than produce helpful antibodies, the cancer cells produce abnormal proteins that can cause complications. It is referred to as ‘Multiple’ Myeloma as it commonly spreads and affects many parts of the body.
Last year, I began my placement working at Takeda in haematology which has taught me the therapy area is constantly evolving. This experience has exposed me to the impressive work being done across the healthcare industry, with new options constantly being explored. However, we still don't know everything about this cancer, and multiple myeloma is a disease that cannot be cured... Yet! Which is why research has become critically important. Our patients need better treatment options, and that’s where you and I can help!
I am excited to be representing Takeda for the London-Paris bike ride to raise money and awareness for Myeloma UK. I will be challenging myself by cycling 500km over 4 consecutive days to support those dealing with this disease, and ultimately to help make myeloma history!
All funds will go directly to Myeloma UK, to find a cure for our patients!
Many thanks for your support, Jordan!
