Story

Our wonderful Mum passed away in September last year after her superwoman fight against breast cancer. We were lucky enough to be able to spend Mum’s last days with her as she would have wanted; in her own home, surrounded by her family and loved ones. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Irish Cancer Society’s Night Nursing service. Margaret and Ethna were our rocks during this time. The quality of medical, emotional and psychological support they provided, not only to Mum but also to us as a family cannot be overstated. They went above and beyond the call of duty, supporting us long after their shifts ended, and even after Mum passed away.

As a small gesture of our gratitude to the Night Nursing service our family will be taking part in the 5km Boots Night Walk to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses next Monday 6th September. This service is truly amazing and is funded solely by charitable donations. Any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated.

The money you have donated will go directly towards helping the Irish Cancer Society Night Nursing service, which provides end of life care for cancer patients in their own home, allowing them to pass away at home surrounded by family and loved ones as well as giving much needed respite for the family caring for them.
