Firstly I would like to say thank you for taking time in reading my justgiving page...before you leave please at minimum read below, and if possible please donate just a small fee for Myeloma UK.
My Story/Inspiration
It all started when the lady in the photo went into hospital with an arm, broken in three places. Prior to this Jan had been diagnosed with osteoporosis.
After spending three weeks in hospital Jan was discharged, but having received the news that she had Myeloma.
Myeloma is a cancer of the plasma cells, which are found in bone marrow, they are responsible for protecting the body against infection. Complications include severe bone pain, bone fractures, infections, kidney failure and fatigue. Every year there are nearly 4,000 people diagnosed. While approximately 80% of patients are over 65, it appears to be on the increase in people in their 50's and even younger
Jan was such an inspirational woman to everyone that met her. I knew her from when I was born and she would always be just a walk up or down the road from my house. Jan babysat my brother and me throughout our childhood, so much that she became part of our family, which Ben and I refer to as Auntie Jan.
Jan was remitted from Myeloma, however a short while after Jan suffered a relapse and unfortunately lost her battle and died in March 2012.
Currently Myeloma UK is not a curable cancer, however it is treatable.
Please can I ask for you to dig deep even if it’s a penny, so that other families that have a family member suffering from Myeloma UK do not suffer as much as Auntie Jan, or her family did.
Donating through JustGiving will ensure that all
proceeds go directly to the charity.
Thank You.
