Cornerstone is a day centre providing services to vulnerable and disadvantaged adults. We help people facing a wide range of social issues. Cornerstone welcomes people from all backgrounds and operates a policy of non-discrimination.

Story

For Joe's 90th birthday he has asked that people do not buy him any presents but that if they want to they can donate to his chosen charity instead - Cornerstone

Since 2015, Cornerstone has been running portacabins – that they call ‘pods’ – that serve as a temporary shelter for the destitute, the homeless and the rough sleepers.

There are many reasons why someone would end up sleeping rough or becoming homeless: from family breakdown, mental health problems, alcohol and drug problems, to those who are working with a zero hour contract who cannot afford accommodation.

There are too many people with low income but not enough social housing especially for those who are single and between the age of 18 to 60.

Since opening Safe Haven night provision in November 2015, Cornerstone has increased the numbers of beds to 30 every night. During last winter, Cornerstone Safe Haven had a record breaking of 31 people staying in the pods and on folding beds inside the main building.
