Story
On the 14th of January 2021 our son William Barnston was born. After an exceptionally traumatic birth William amongst other things went into shock and could not be resuscitated for 20 minutes. He was transferred to the NICU at Jessops where he stayed for a week to try to prevent potential brain damage.
Thankfully the amazing people at Jessops nursed him back to health and now he is a perfectly normal happy and healthy boy.
Over the last 21 years, The Jessop Wing has been the birthplace of approximately 147,000 babies. It is home to a 22-bed labor ward, three postnatal wards, one antenatal ward, a high dependency unit, and three state-of-the-art birthing pools. All of which are run by superhero staff that has cared for and supported babies, their mums, and families.Your continued support to the charity has enabled us to fund projects that improve health, state-of-the-art equipment, pioneering research, patient and family support services and gave us the chance to transform areas within The Jessop Wing to make it a more welcoming and comfortable space or staff, patients and families across Sheffield.
