I lost my Dad in May 2020 after a brutally short battle with Lung cancer. 

The one shining light through this horrific time for me and my sister were Marie Curie. Through his far too swift deterioration over a few short weeks, the rapid response team in particular were wonderful. They were on hand 24 hours a day to be there to administer vital pain medication as well as provide any support for us as a family.

Hopefully very few of you reading this will have to be there in the trenches with a loved one approaching the end of their life and the grim reality that this entails, but unfortunately it might well be needed. Marie Curie are vital in those desperate times of need, when my Dad needed them most, they were there.

My old man and me were very close, a bond mainly found through sports. He let me participate in any sport I could growing up and I know I made him proud with my achievements, particularly on the golf course and football pitches (with the odd falling out on the way). Golf in particular is where we would be together most, he would be driving me up and down the country during my teenage years playing in all the big amateur events and I have some great memories of him from those precious times.

To be honest, a marathon is something he might have questioned me doing but I know he would have been there cheering me on if he could. 

I really want to raise as much as I can for Marie Curie and I need you reading this to help me, I can't say enough good things about them and every penny you could throw my way for them I would be eternally grateful.
