Joes Ironman 70.3 for Cavernoma society

Ironman 70.3 Bolton · 26 September 2021
Early in 2020 my wife Amy suffer several seizures, which where a result of a bleed on the brain (stroke). The source of this bleed was found to be a cavernoma. ,
Amy was diagnosed with two Cavernomas in her brain. Cavernomas are a cluster of blood vessels which can develop in any part of the brain or spinal chord.
With the risk of further brain bleeds, Amy had surgery to remove one of her Cavernomas which fortunately was a success, however, Amy has to live with the deficits of her stroke daily.
The Cavernoma Society raises awareness, supports survivors and their families.
They have been a real lifeline of support and guidance for both Amy and myself during an extremely hard and stressful time. All this during covid lockdowns.
I will be taking on a half Ironman on Sunday 26th September with the aim to raise money and awareness for the charity.
Ironman 70.3- 1.2mile swim 🏊♂️ 56 mile bike 🚴 & 13.1 mile run 🏃
As many of you may know I’m not an endurance athlete. I am built for comfort rather than speed so this will be a major challenge 😂
Thank you for your support 💕
The Cavernoma Society has been set up by those with cavernoma to help those affected by it. We are a volunteer-run charity supporting friends, carers, family, and patients affected by cavernoma. This rare neurological condition affects 1 in 600 and it's our mission to provide support and research into the condition, thus improving lives.
