Story
To be lucky enough to have this opportunity is something I'm extremely grateful for. I would be so proud on behalf of myself and the behalf of everybody donating if we could reach this target.
Whilst the last two years of covid have kept us both physically and emotionally isolated from each-other and the world, I can't wait to find myself 5,985 metres high and have everybody who donated to thank for it.
Amnesty is a brilliant organisation campaigning for human rights. They focus on a huge range of issues all around the world, including big problems such as: large scale human rights violations in the Columbia protests, Big companies such as JCB profiting off of conflict in Palestine and support for the victims of the Beirut explosion.
They also call for help for individuals like students at risk of torture and reporters imprisoned for talking out against the state. As well as this, they focus on our own government's actions, for example the sweeping powers given to police which diminish our right to free speech.
I am raising money for the Amnesty International UK Charitable Trust by taking part in the Kilimanjaro Trek Challenge with the University of Cardiff. Over 9 days I will embark upon a multi-day trek to a significant altitude of 5,895m above sea-level. I will find myself in remote environments with limited facilities on this tough physical challenge. You'll be supporting Amnesty International UK, a grassroots organisation campaigning for justice and human rights wherever they have been denied.
