Story

The Run

This weekend I will be attempting to complete the Bob Graham round, a classic Lake District fell run covering 105km over 42 summits with 8200m of ascent (almost the height of Everest). I need to complete it in 24 hours. Fewer than half of attempts succeed- this will be the hardest run I have ever done.

I'll start from Keswick at midnight on Friday, and will be supported by a glowing full moon and a large cast of friends who are joining me for sections along the way. To complete the challenge, I need to make it back to the start point in Keswick by midnight on Saturday.

Raising Money

Inspired by the great Joss Naylor, I am using this run to raise money for Govan Community Project, the charity that Emily works for. They are a small charity supporting asylum seekers in Glasgow. They are in desperate need of funds to allow them to continue supporting people in crisis. I’m trying to raise £2000 for their food support fund.

Asylum seekers are prohibited from working. The Home Office gives them a measly sum of £40.85 per week to cover all their basic needs. That’s £5.84 per day to buy food, toiletries, phone credit and bus tickets.

Govan Community Project’s food support fund help asylum seekers experiencing crisis. This includes things like their money being cut off without warning, people who are homeless and people going through a mental health crisis.

I need your help to reach the target of £2000- please donate! I'll keep you updated with my progress.
