When I was 6 years old, I lost my dad through suicide after his long battle with his mental health.

Throughout my teenage years, I started to struggle with the reality of what had happened all those years ago and became severely depressed which in part led to me being physically ill. Through the support of my now Wife, family and friends, my mental health improved and by the time I reached my twenties, for the first time in a long time, I was happy. 

Unfortunately I have come to realise that this isn't so simple for everyone who is facing mental hardship. I have had to watch my Wife over the years decline with her mental health and face difficulty receiving the treatment she needs and it is truly heart breaking to witness.

I encountered Young Minds through a friend of mine a few years ago and started looking into the work they do for young people who much like my Dad and my Wife have continuously struggled throughout their young lives and what a positive impact they have had on so many people.

It is because of this I have decided to shave off my hair in the hope that I can raise money to help fund the work this amazing group of people are doing. Anyone who knows me on a personal level will tell you just how much I love my hair and how I go to great lengths to avoid even a slight hair cut but this is much more important than that. I was too young to help my dad when he needed it, I hope now that I can do something to help others.

It is my hope that no one will have to grow up wondering "why?" as I did and that people like my Wife will be able to get the help they need before it is too late.

Because of this I ask that you please give whatever you can to help Young Minds in their mission. Even just sharing my story on your social media would be appreciated.

I will never forget the day that my father's battle ended and the impact it caused. This one is for you dad x
