Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

In August 2014 I am running the Virgin Active London Triathlon, that consists on a 750m Swim - 25km Cycle - 5km Run.
My Chosen charity is the Stroke Association, with more details below.

In a very short time period, my family and friends have experienced the after effects of someone having a stroke. Most importantly to me is my late Grandpa, in which a stroke was his most contributing sickness.

Below is a small extract from the Stroke Association that includes shocking statistics that most people would never realise.

Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK changing the world for people affected by stroke, through their research in both prevention and treatments of a stroke. They work with survivors, ill people and the families of both.

As funding and research has made a huge impact in decreasing numbers of strokes, and increasing the survivors, there’s still more to do. 150,000 people have a stroke every year in the UK

·       50,000 will make a full recovery

·       50,000 will be left with a severe disability

·       50,000 will die
