Story
I'm
incredibly
excited to finally confirm that I WILL be volunteering with Balloon Ventures to help end Poverty through business innovation in Africa in February 2018!!!
I'll be spending 10 weeks working alongside entrepreneurs in their local communities helping them to start their businesses. With increased trade and business, their local economy grows, alleviating abject poverty.
Balloon Ventures have helped to launch 150 businesses across Kenya, supporting 550 local entrepreneurs, and have secured over £200,000 worth of investment.
So why am I raising money to support their work? To ensure that more volunteers like myself can help continue the astonishing success that Balloon Ventures have achieved in their relatively short operating time.
So here's the crazy idea - myself, my brother, and a good friend will be walking for 24 hrs across Scotland. We're starting on the West Coast and heading across to Inverness. The route follows the Great Glenn Way across Scotland, and we aim to cross the 75 miles in 24hrs. It's not going to be easy, but then...who ever said that defeating poverty was easy?
All funds raised will be donated straight to Balloon Ventures for frontline work fighting extreme poverty. None of this fundraising is in any way associated with the personal costs of my volunteering trip.
For those interested, the personal cost of my volunteering is covered by ICS - a government run organisation that sends British volunteers abroad as part of it's foreign aid program.
Fundraising is a required stage of my volunteering experience, and I need YOUR help to achieve my goal.
Please consider donating any amount toward my mission - Thank you.
Here's to a world without poverty
Josh
