Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On the 19th July 2015 myself Ali Hornby,  Kelly Cross, Sheralyn Thorpe, Sarah Keyes, Mairi Simpson and Steve Pryke will be doing a tandem Skydive from 15,000 feet!

We are all either scared of heights or have a fear of flying!! So why jump out of a plane?? I was touched by the story that hit our local news regarding a young boy who died in a town where I grew up. I didn't know the Fell family personally but having children myself couldn't imagine loosing a child when something as simple as heart screening children and adults between the age of 14 and 35 years could and would save their lives.

The Fell family were looking for people to do the skydive and very quickly they had us 6 volunteering. It will be a massive achievement for us all and with 4 months to go we are all very scared.

Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD).  CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds fast track referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.

We all hate asking for sponsor money and am aware that people get asked daily but are asking for your contributions no matter how big or small to help drop the statistics to a minimum so other families don't have to go through the heartache Rich and Donna Fell have.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send.

Thanks in advance for your support and we look forward to raising lots of money for CRY

Ali, Kelly, Sheralyn, Sarah, Mairi and Steve :-)
