In 2019 there were 530,841 deaths registered in England and Wales. Of these deaths, there were 66,424 deaths due to dementia and Alzheimer's disease (12.5%)
My Grandfather Peter had Alzheimer’s. He passed away when I was quite young and when I look back on that time all I can remember was the sadness surrounding his illness. Because ultimately, it’s the pain of seeing your loved ones forget everything about themselves and you that makes watching someone slowly die of Alzheimer’s and Dementia all the more devastating.
I will be supporting my Dad alongside my Brother in September by walking 13 miles for the Alzheimer’s Society charity to raise funds in aid of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s as well as funding the support networks for those that have the disease and their families.
Asking someone for money is never an easy thing to do but when the cause is good it’s the easiest thing in the world. Please donate to such a fantastic cause because anyone can get Alzheimer’s including you, and the more money we raise, the closer we get to finding a cure.
