Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At 18 weeks gestation our perfectly healthy twins were suddenly diagnosed with twin to twin transfusion, a rare condition that affects the blood flow between them meaning Quintin was getting too much nutrients which was placing pressure on his heart whilst, Finnley was getting too little which left him malnourished and with little space in the womb to grow. On that same day we went to Kings College London to undergo Laser placenta abrasion which would separate them.

Shortly after my wife's waters broke which left her bed bound for 7 weeks. At this point it had been the first time we were told our twins would not make it and it would be repeated to us daily for the next 7 months. For any parent that has a premature baby or is in a high risk category, that is our normality. It is constant heart wrench but the staff at the TMBU's overwhelming support kept our hopes up.

They had many operations in the process, laser surgery before they where born, both Had laser eye surgery, one had heart surgery one had a hernia operation, they even had an operation to put a surgical line in his head

God even knows all the 'smaller" things like mri scans, blood clots, brain bleds, nearly losing an arm, seizures and ecg test, blood transfusions, the 1000 times they both nearly passed away but they where always saved by the true super heroes of the world.

Sadly Finnley passed away due to being unable to recover form his bad start to life with his lung disease and his reliance on pain killers, he could never kick the drugs and recover from lung disease at the same time but he did get to spend  some time with his tiwn and mum for a week before he passed which was so special

You do all of this stuff alone to due to fact you have another kid at home and need to work to pay bills. But the staff at these places from cleaners right through to consultats and even in one case a professor never make you feel alone

Our sons were true fighters and the love and care the nurses and doctors held for them kept them going. They saved their lives countlessly and were always in their corner fighting for them. This is why I'm running for this amazing charity, to give back what they gave us.

Everyone involved in this kind of journey truely are gods amongst men
