We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

I decided to take part in this challenge for Alzheimer’s Society because of my Grandma. My Grandma has Alzheimers and it is so sad having to watch her lose her memory. I am the only one of her grandchildren to get married so far but she now can’t remember my wedding which was only just over a year ago and other important family events are slipping away from her. She even now struggles to recognise me when I visit her by myself, often mistaking me for my father, it’s easier just to pretend that I am my Dad than convince her otherwise. It’s for her that I am doing this challenge. I know it will be tough but it’s great to know that I will be raising funds to help people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.

I will be riding uphill and down dale, covering approximately 1000 miles and traveling through 3 countries, climbing around 55,700feet, almost twice the height of Mount Everest. I'd like to raise over 1000pounds, at least a pound for every mile I have to cycle. This is not going to be an easy challenge but one that I am looking forward to.

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer’s Society, said:‘We are delighted that Joshua is giving his time to support Alzheimer’s Society. There are 800,000 people living with dementia in the UK. It is caused by diseases of the brain and can happen to anyone. As a charity, we rely on the generosity of individuals like Joshua to help us continue our vital work. Please back Joshua in his fundraising efforts so that Alzheimer's Society can continue leading the fight against dementia.’

Any and all donations are much appreciated.

Thank you.
