Story

On the 30th April 2022 I will be Abseiling down Dorchester Abbey tower. This tower is over 100ft combined with my Dyspraxia and my fear of heights the fact I am doing it is as much a surprise to me as it is to anyone else. I am doing this because it is raising funds for two great charities. One of which Daybreak is unique in providing social and therapeutic respite days for people living with dementia, helping couples stay together at home, thus delaying or avoiding residential careDaybreak runs four day centres or clubs in Oxfordshire, providing care and support to help people live well with dementia.Dementia is incurable but not untreatable and day club attendance is one of the few recommended treatments. They believe that with the best care and support people can live well with dementia. Their aims are to help maintain skills and abilities, to provide stimulation, enjoyment and companionship, and to allow family carers a break from their care-giving responsibilities. The other is Dorchester Abbey itself it costs £440 a day to maintain this magnificent building that hosts so many services and great festivals, musical and cultural events, and educational activities open to all. Dorchester Abbey has been massively important in my life and always been welcoming to me and has helped me to grow in my faith and discern my vocation. I would really like to support the church in its mission and ministry as it has supported me in mine.
