Story
This challenge is in memory of our great friend Richard Pover or "Po" to those that knew him well. At the age of 22 Po sadly lost his long battle with a rare form of testicular cancer.
Having got to know Po in Sheffield halls of residence during my formative years of university, it was shocking to learn that he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer. However from day 1 he approached it with relentless determination and positivity, despite many setbacks... Without a negative word to say. This is what has inspired the group of us to embark upon a challenge in his memory.
The challenge is to walk the 100km from Sheffield (the group's spiritual home) to Tarporley (Richard's family home). The route will cross the (entire) Peak district national park and then some... We will also be completing it in 24 hrs - walking non-stop through the day and night.
The proceeds from the walk will be going to Weston Park Hospital Charity. It is a specialist cancer hospital and provides care that goes way beyond just medical treatment, something that Po and all of us that knew him are extremely grateful for.
