Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After hearing about the tragic fire on Wednesday 14th June, lots of questions from Joshua (aged 6) followed. I tried my best to get the balance right of being honest about what he'd heard on our morning radio, whilst protecting his 6 year old heart from the horror of the events. It was beautiful then, that in it all, his biggest concern was that the children wouldn't have had time to take their toys before escaping the building.

We first talked about collecting lots of toys to take to London, but I explained the crisis centres have been overwhelmed with donations, and (slightly more practically) we hope that some money raised will help the children affected to choose some new toys, new duvet covers, and things which will help their new bedrooms feel like home.

This precious concern from a 6 year old reflects the love, care & support of lots of people from all over the country and we will cycle 10Km from our home (the long way round) to our local Fire Station - where we hope to meet our local firefighters, if they are not busy, give a big high five and say thank you for all they do, every day.

This has certainly helped me to channel some of my sadness & anger, to beauty and hope and we hope that by hearing this story, and sponsoring Joshua it might help you do the same.  To show the people of the Grenfell Community that we care, and we stand with you and we send you all love and peace as you begin to rebuild your lives and your homes.

With love, from Chester to London.
