Europe's Toughest Mudder · 24 June 2023

OCD-UK is a leading national charity and an independent service-user led organisation working with and for children and adults affected by Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Story

Hello everyone, in what can only be described as the stupidest event I've ever signed up for, I am taking part in Europe's Toughest Mudder in a team of 4. For those unfamiliar with the concept of Tough Mudder, it is a muddy, wet, cold assault course that ranges from 5-15km. This specific event is the same but for a total of 12 HOURS STRAIGHT. The catch is it starts at 8pm and finishes at 8am so you run the majority in the night (hopefully it will be a warm night in Grantham). Our goal as a team is to run about 50km per pair (80km for team as you run the first and last as a 4) so just over a marathon, whether my body permits this goal is another question. If you are not convinced at how fun it is here is a video from 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ejNb7UU90A.

Any donations towards this event would be fantastic, and any advice on how to survive would also be greatly appreciated. If anyone really loves the idea feel free to come along and bring our pit crew numbers off a mighty 0 so far.

YHEC is supporting OCD UK throughout 2023!We have chosen OCD UK as our annual charity in rememberance of our much loved and missed friend and colleague Matthew Bunney, who died in June 2022. Staff at YHEC will be taking part in a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year, including quizzes, competitions, sweepstakes, fitness challenges and more. Furthermore, as a company, YHEC will match-fund up to £5,000 - so for every £1 raised by YHEC staff, the company will give a further £1! Please support this cause by making a donation today!OCD-UK has been working for children and adults affected by Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder since 2004. They provide advice, information, and support services for those affected by OCD, and campaign to end the trivialisation and stigma of OCD. Uniquely, the charity is completely service-user led, everyone involved in the organisation have personal experience of OCD, either directly or through a loved one.
