I have been deeply saddened and yet amazed by the courage of a very good friend Jo who is fighting for her life. Despite being cursed with Breast Cancer for the second  time she is a tireless fundraiser, a loving wife and mother of a beautiful 7 year old little girl.

My mother died from Leukaemia 8 years ago and I must confess I have never felt so passionately about the battle against cancer, both in terms of researching cures and for providing care. I have made donations to several key charities over the last few years. People who know me well, however, will not ever remember me ‘pounding the streets’ for a good cause.  I am not a ‘health freak’ and the thought of running or walking a marathon is appalling, yet this is what I intend to do in the hope that others will support my efforts with donations. I will be ‘walking the walk’, the Playtex MoonWalk 2010 that is on 15^th May 2010 over 26 miles 385 yards. To add to the difficulty level we walk from midnight onwards

Sadly, one in nine women will develop breast cancer at --some point in their lives.  It could be your wife, mother, daughter, grand-daughter or friend.
