1918 was the decisive year of the First World War the year the war ended, - or rather, was won.  The War of 1918 was very different to popular perceptions of the the Western Front.  The year saw the British forces at their lowest ebb, but also achieve their greatest success.  The story of the events of 1918, as opposed to the Armistice itself is a rather neglected topic. We are holding our talk on the centenary of the eve of the German 1918 offensive, the setting for RC Sherrif's play: Journey's End

Frank Baldwin is a historian and battlefield guide to the battlefields of the Western. He is the organiser of these fund raising talks. He will talk about the neglected battlefields of 1918 and the reasons why they are important.

Please note that this talk will take place in the Guildhall Library starting at the slightly later time of 13.00.

The event includes a sandwich lunch, a glass of wine and the opportunity to network in the exclusive surroundings of the Guildhall London.  If you would like to attend this lunchtime talk, please make a donation of £30 for each attendee (£25 for members of the Battlefields Trust) and email your name, contact number and any special requirements (dietary/mobility) to helen.e.perry57@gmail.com  On receipt, email confirmation will be sent together with directions to the venue. If you have any questions, please ring 07768 102 594. We look forward to welcoming you.

The event is full. While you may make donations to support the Battlefields Trust, we have reached capacity at the event venue.
