Story

I’ve never ever done this before… 5k parkruns have been the limit of my running career to date. But then I’ve never reached my 60s before, when it starts to feel a case of now or never. Will you run with me? I’ll need company. (I’m thrilled that a few friends and colleagues are now signed up!) If you won’t run, will you sponsor one of us?

Amnesty International is a movement of ordinary people from across the world standing up for the God-given dignity of every human being and their rights. It was founded from St Martin-in-the-Fields. When injustice happens to one person, it happens to us all: I feel this deeply as I travel around the Anglican Communion. On my heart currently are people in DRC, in Nicaragua, in Sudan and South Sudan, and in Burundi and Tanzania - where I’ve seen human dignity undermined or denied.

Recent campaigns include refugee and migrant rights, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, Syrian conflict and LGBTI rights. Amnesty's biggest achievements include outlawing torture, holding war criminals to account and controlling the arms trade. Your support is of significant value - only together can we continue to make a difference.
