Welcome,

In October 2019, we will be boarding a plane on our way to Mwakirunge, Mombasa in Kenya.

This is no normal Mother/Daughter holiday as we are on a MISSION to support local girls and women affected by violence, child pregnancy, child marriage and FGM.

We will be BUILDING a much-needed support centre for young survivors of violence. This centre will be a place where girls can get medical, psychological and legal support. We will be digging foundations, mixing cement and laying bricks.

Why are we doing this?

- 95% of girls in traditional areas of Kenya are at risk of FGM.

- 38% of people live below the poverty line

- 26% of girls are married before their 18^th birthday

Violence against girls is a serious problem in Kenya that affects girls from all walks of life.

In Mwakirunge the levels of child pregnancy, child marriage and FGM are all high. This in turn leads to girls not finishing their education or living the lives they want and deserve. Often the perpetrator is known to the survivor, there is a lack of money & confidence to seek justice together with a fear of backlash for speaking out. All of these factors contribute to violence rarely being reported.

To fund the project we have pledged to raise a total of £6,400 but we can’t do it alone. Any contribution big or small will make a massive difference to the lives of so many. To be clear, we are personally funding our flights and accommodation costs and no part of our fundraising will go towards this.
